DO ZERO CARB, OR DON'T DO IT, BUT NOTHING IN BETWEEN???

I am chatting online since years with this chap in Switzerlandwho is now on a Zero Carb diet since about 2 years, and he is just got out of the hospital for 5 hearth bypasses…

This brings up a lot of questioning for me especially since I was the one convincing him to try Zero Carb to control a Metabolic Syndrome…

Strangely, I was feeling quite good in these 2 years except the last 3 weeks when he had chest pain…

I must report that he has a family history of hearth problems…

My first step will be to question him and figure out if he was really doing Zero Carb seriously, which brings up, again, the same question: is it dangerous to do strict Zero Carb AND cheat once in a while allowing some high bad carb treats???

To be continued.

    1. "Why would anyone want to go back to misery?"… You are so right saying this Sara…

Anyway, this swiss guy is now out of hospital with, you may imagine, a prescription of STATINS…

I will keep you updated including what I think about all this…

    1. This man is now back home after an excellent and short stay in the hospital.

He do NOT want to change his way of eating Zero carb, saying I would have had an earlier and massive hearth attack if he had continued the "regular high carb low fat" diet he was on for up to 50 years of his life…

  3. Sad news Denis, I hope this does not discourage you. You have brought up some wonderful points about zero carb. There is no way that I would consider to every change my woe. I get my labs done every 6 months to satisfy my own curiosity. I get a good clean bill of health each and every time. Look at You and Dave, you are two inspiring success stories. The success and proof is here on this blog for everyone to see. :-)Cat

    1. I do also have a "clean bill of health" each time I do some test… but I really need to "clean up and understand" what happened to this poor man… The necessity to stay objective here is very important for me so we can learn… and avoid making huge mistakes that could be repeated with catastrophic effects.

And I want to avoid the pitfall beleiving I am so right about Zero Carb that I stop seing reality…

  4. Denis I often have similar feelings...feeling I am 110% sure ZC is THE best and healthiest woe but not wanting to be so steadfast in that thought that I don't continue to keep an open mind.
I would think the lifetime of poor eating led to your friend's health issues that 2 short years on ZC couldn't yet repair
