5/28/2016 - Blast from the Past - DAY 37

Howdy all,

I guess I forgot yesterday was Friday. Ha! So, I owe you one and here it is. Anyhow Life is good if not GREAT I gotta tellya!!!  Happy Memorial Day weekend!! Your next edition of “Blast from the Past”:

Original Stardate: 8/6/2010
Today is a good day mostly because I am working a half day. At 10:30 am I will go to help my youngest sister set up her house for her wedding reception tomorrow.

My energy levels are good. I got a lot of rest last night. My spirits are high, no cravings for carbs, no cheats, and no tummy troubles (so far today).

I hit another all-time low on (ZC) this morning. So far I have lost 19 lbs. I actually feel hungry right now. So it’s time heat up some yummy (right?) fatty beef brisket.

(ZC) Fat is where it’s AT

260/241.0/185 (weight loss)
Overall health (1-10):8
Energy level (1-10):7
Cravings: None
Today's Menu: Fatty Brisket, H2O

Original Stardate: 8/6/2010
I had a real good day. It was fun to spend time with my sister. She is over ten years younger than me. My other younger sister showed up with her kids to help out. I had a lot of fun hanging out.

I got hungry around 6:30pm. I was with my mom on my way to a garden center to pick out plants and flowers for my sister’s house. So before we made it to the garden center we stopped at Burger King and I ate two bun-less "buck doubles".
I am a little hungry now, but it is too late to eat.

(ZC)ers Lending a Helping Hand

Alrighty, a couple of short posts for that day. Let’s see…….well first of all this Rookie had an all-time low on Zero Carb……YEAH for him!!! He is listening to his body and enjoying the rewards that come with it. At this point one of the main rewards is weight loss. Fatty Beef Brisket is fitting the bill at this point and he eats to hunger. How easy is that? REAL EASY my good Friends!!!

Guess what? He is listening to his body again, in that he is waiting to actually feel hunger and not just eating because it is that time of day to eat. No Sir/Ma’am!  He is letting the body dictate to him when to eat. And better yet he is on the road when that happened for the second time that day and he used his noodle……..Oops……I mean brain and got some beef patties from Burger King. Yep, something easy and quick that FIT the BILL!!! GREAT for HIM!!!

Look-it: the Zero Carb Lifestyle can be a real easy if you let it. Or it can be real hard if you let it. Too many folks out there don’t plan for contingency situations and just give in to what they feel is easy and blow their way of eating to go back to what they are used to doing and have to start all over again. Plan my friends and you will reap the rewards of Zero Carb. Yes you will indeed!!! It’s so easy even I can do it.

Have a great Zero Carb day my Family and Friends. Be Strong, Live Long and Always Battle On!!!

5/24/2016 - Blast from the Past - DAY 36

Greetings Family and Friend,

I goofed up on my last post and put the wrong “Stardate” I put 8/3/2010 instead of 8/4/2010. I also forgot to put the fonts in blue for the past post. I went back and edited it to the best of my ability. I hope I did not leave anything out. Your next portion of “Blast from the Past” :

Original Stardate 8/5/2010
I rested OK last night. My spirits are high, no carvings for carbs, no cheats, minor tummy troubles. I was surprised at today’s weigh-in. It was 241.6. I had to take a double take. I am sure it just a water thingy.

Fatty brisket goes along way. After I got home yesterday I did not feel hungry. It’s going to take a while for me to get used to a large amount of liquid fat. I still have a bit at home. I originally divided the brisket into two containers: one with the extra fatty brisket and one with the leaner side of the brisket with much less fat. If (DW) does not eat the other portion I may eat it myself. It has more fat than my Steaks or Ground Chuck.

It’s funny, I have not got tired of the taste of Rib eyes or Ground Chuck especially when they are grilled on the Q, but this fatty brisket is wearing down the taste buds. So I have a dilemma. I will be eating fatty brisket for at least three more days and possible more. If the current trend of weight loss continues I would be a fool not to go with a good thing. I will more than likely substitute fatty Beef ribs in lieu of the fatty brisket when it runs out.

Maybe I’ll gain back a couple of pounds and my fatty brisket Theory will be blown out of the water. LOL!!!!!! You gotta love it. I am sure trying to get used to Fatty Meat, especially Fatty Beef. If I ate that fatty brisket on day one I might have not gone (ZC). I can just tolerate Fatty Beef at this point. It makes me feel just a little queasiness.

I’m trying also to get the hunger and satiety feelings in tune. I normally do ok on that front, but sometimes I feel that I overeat.

(ZC)ers Mean and Lean

260/241.6/185 (weight loss)
Overall health (1-10):8
Energy level (1-10):7
Cravings: None
Today's Menu: Fatty Brisket, H2O

Well it looks like the Fatty Beef Brisket run is “Running Out”. It looks like I am getting a little burned out either on the taste or the extreme amount of fat I was eating.

This Rookie has a theory in that he seems to think the more fat he eats, the more weight he lost. Was he right I dunno know? Well he had a nice little drop in weight on this post. I wonder what will happen on the next post.

It seems like tummy troubles are still hanging around……..well just a little.

He seems to have some trouble with the change in diet to really high fat meat. This could be a part of his tummy trouble.

No cravings for carbs. Wow what a gift indeed. He was truly blessed in that department. Cravings can be a game ender concerning the Zero Carb Lifestyle.

Have a great Zero Carb day my Family and Friends. Live Long, Stay Strong and Always Battle On!!!

5/23/2016 - Blast from the Past - DAY 35

 Greetings Family and Friends!

Well back to the “Back from the Past” series. I left Denis post at the top because it was very important and I wanted this information available to all who visits here. So now the saga continues with no further ado:

Original Stardate: 8/4/2010
I got some good rest last night. I slept until the alarm went off this morning. I still feel a little nauseated, which is no big deal. I still feel a bit full, but not in an uncomfortable way. I tell you, I hate not being able to describe physical feelings accurately.

My spirits are good, my energy is better, no cravings for carbs, no cheats, minor tummy troubles.

At this morning weigh-in I reached my all-time low on (ZC) at 243 lbs. This equals to a 17 lb weight loss.

Earlier this year I was on a VLC diet and went down to 235 lbs. I have set a mini goal of 234 lbs to break that record. I can’t remember clearly but I think it took me around 3 months to get to 235 lbs. Now to be fair my start weight at that time was around 270 lbs if I recollect correctly. I have no time limit. I will get there when I get there.

I won’t celebrate too hard, although I am happy, because my trend seems to go up and down on the scale. So far when all is said and done I am still losing weight.

(ZC)ers Lend me your ear

Overall health (1-10):8
Energy level (1-10):7

Today's Menu: Fatty Brisket, H2O

Original Stardate: 8/4/2010
Hi Steve, I believe I cooked it at 270. I am eating some right now as I type.

This is my first meal of today. 11:00 AM Houston time (central).

Look at all that liquid fat and chunks of regular fat. Wow, I defiantly, absolutely must have been eating too lean. I can’t believe it has taken me this long to eat my first meal of the day. I usually start to feel hunger anywhere between 6:30 AM-9:30 AM. I think I’m getting over that slight nausea I had lingering this early morning.

(ZC)ers Eating good in the Hood

Original Stardate: 8/4/2010
Another day down in my (ZC) Journey. I am amazed on how the fat I have consumed these last 2 days have satisfied my hunger and for the length of time. I took 2 portions of fatty brisket to work and only managed to eat one. The portion was a lot smaller than yesterday.

I still like the taste of grilled Rib eyes and Ground Chuck better than the brisket. I think I will try some fatty Beef ribs after I run out of brisket. I like the taste of Beef ribs. They have a unique strong taste and I sort of like the bones.

I did have some tummy troubles tonight. I think it is the overload of fat. Well I guess it comes with the territory.

(ZC) give that dog a Bone

Wow, looking back I can see that at this time of ZC, fat did have an impact on me. It made me nauseated. It got better with time. Also I am sure fat also contributed to my tummy troubles.

It looks like I had a 17 lb weight loss. Not bad for just eating. No exercise, no nothing. Just eat, eat and eat again.

At this point I am learning to take my weight loss optimistically. I feel the need to take the weight loss with the big picture of overall weight loss and not just what I lose or gain on a daily basis.

It looks like my sleep is better. I did not mention the serotonin, so hopefully I stopped using it. I know I could not have been using it much because I really don't remember using. I know I wrote about it so I know I did use it for at least a short period of time.

GOOD Lord almighty!!! Look at the picture of the fatty brisket swimming in tallow. I did eat it a lot at the start of my ZC Journey. It was easy and cheap to make. I don't eat it as much, but every once in awhile I get a craving for it.

Have a Great Zero Carb day my Family and Friends. Do what's Right and Stay in the Fight and Always Battle On!!!

(ZC)er The Beat Goes ON

Thursday, May 12, 2016

An interesting article just came out in “The Journal of Obesity”, article you have probably heard about:  Persistent metabolic adaptation 6 years after ‘The Biggest Loser competition“.

A lot of comments were done on many websites about THIS STUDY but today I will try to give a look at it with a Zero Carb angle.

To resume the situation, the study showed that these "biggest losers", even after 6 years AFTER their “loosing adventure” eating 1000-1200 calories per day, did not recuperate their original basal metabolic rate when coming back to their original caloric intake. Which largely explains the long-term failure of the “biggest loosers/low calories” approach...

To make it simple, it means if you are eating 2000 calories per day, and you go on a “regular food item” diet eating only 1000 per day, your body will adjust and burn less calories to survive. BUT now we know that if you “re-increase” you calories intake WITH the same kind of “regular food items”, your body will not readjust and begin to burn more. There seem to be a permanent damage to the body basal metabolism.

This lowering of the metabolism largely explain the “loss plateaus” we have all certainly experienced in the past doing a "low-cal regular diet".

Clearly you understand to loose weight and keep it down, on the long term, we have to keep our basal metabolism HIGH.

The most interesting point about this study is that one subject regained his “original” metabolic rate, differently from 93% of the biggest losers folks, and he did this by doing bariatric surgery.

Why is this? Because bariatric surgery is just like on a Zero Carb diet: it puts insulin levels down sharply, growth hormone and noradrenalin both go up, keeping your basal metabolism HIGH and preventing any fat storage.

Any diet that brings you into “burning fat for energy” will keep your basal metabolism HIGH. There is no starvation mode. And, on the contrary, any low calorie diet keeping your insulin high (low-cal, low fat), will seriously slow-down your metabolism forever.

So now we know to recover from a lowered basal metabolism from a low calorie diet, one has to move on to a high fat diet, high enough to put his insulin down. For some it may be a LC diet or a VLCD but, as you know, for others it has to be a Zero Carb diet.

Anyway, we have some good studies showing ketogenic diets (whatever it may request for you to go into ketosis…) DO NOT produce any slowing of the metabolism.

So what about the calorie OUT? Nothing realy interesting comes out about this in the study. I guess we are still left with the theory that if you exercise too much, your appetite will go up.

And how to go around this? Forget about these hours of intensive exercise: go into short intensity exercise programs and built some muscle.

Finally, and I want to insist here, a low-calorie diet (with carb items) MAY work for some people and these are the ones with NO SIGN of metabolic syndrome. But we also know the number of these folks is going down, year after year, as the general population is increasing their carbohydrates intake. Our last estimate is this is true for only 10% of our society. Which means 90 % of the population will fail on a long-term weight program if they still believe in the "Cal-in Cal-out, Low-cal Low fat" approach.

This study is just another proof that the Zero Carb way of eating is adequate and scientifically supported!

5/11/2016 - Blast from the Past - DAY 34

Greetings Family and Friends,

I am back in the saddle today. Sorry for missing Monday’s post. Some things came up and I did not have time to post. This is a big post so I need the time to make it right. I plan on posting the “Blast from the Past” series on Monday’s Wednesday’s and Friday’s for now. I will leave the other days open for whatever happens. Weekends are still an unknown for now. I am not sure if I want to be posting or fishing. I have been doing a lot of fishing as of late on the weekends. I don’t catch much, but that is just half the fun. I enjoy the Great Outdoors. Nature is good if not GREAT!!!! My buddy that I go fishing with is the BEST. He is a really great guy that I have known for over 30 years. Your next edition of “Blast from the Past”:

First some comments from some Family from the original ZIOH forum on 8/3/2010:

My response to Sharon:
Thank you Sharon. She won't be satisfied until I get my lab result from my next annual in December. Then maybe she will see the light.

(ZC) Lone Ranger

My response to Heidi:
Thanks Heidi, I'm glad that you have some support. There is nothing (DW) could say to me that will stop my Journey. Lock and Load and Rock n Roll.

(ZC)ing thru Thick and Thin

 My response to Mel:
Mel, I concur who knows what crap is injected into the foods at most restaurants to entice you to eat their fare. I paid around $22.00 (@3.99lb) the other day for four big fat juicy Rib eyes at the grocery store. I would pay that or more in The Woodlands for one Steak dinner.

(ZC)ers are Wise

Original Stardate: 8/3/2010
I did not sleep much last night. (DW) was sick and I stayed up late last night attending to her. She was all better this morning and Doc Dave gave her the green light. I still took the melatonin for good measure.

As you can imagine I’m a bit sluggish today. Of course it has nothing to with my WOE. So my energy levels are ok. My spirits are high. No cravings, cheats or tummy troubles.

Today I will eat that extremely fatty brisket that I chopped up yesterday. I think I can handle the fat. On week one I tried some extremely fatty beef and I was sick beyond belief. I feel that I’m ready to take on fatty beef.

(ZC)ers Lubing it up

Overall health (1-10):8
Energy level (1-10):5
Cravings: None
Today's Menu: Fatty Brisket, H2O

Original Stardate: 8/3/2010
I ended up eating the fatty brisket in one sitting. Well sort of. I got interrupted by my employees so many times that it took me an hour and a half to actually eat it. I wasn’t hungry for my first meal until late (about 1:30 pm. I didn’t finish it until almost 3:00 pm. I am not used to eating a lot of liquid fat. It still kind of grosses me out. Regular solid fat is another story. I can chow down like a big dog on that. But I was a good boy and made a “Happy Plate” and drank all the liquid fat. I did feel a little nausea. Nothing major. I still feel full and I cannot see how I could eat anything else today.
If I see good results and can tolerate the extra fat, I will buy some extra fatty Beef ribs for the rest of this week (until Monday) and give the Ground Chuck and Rib eyes a break. I do believe I have been eating too lean.

(ZC) Grease is the Word

Original Stardate 8/3/2010
Today was a good day. We had a steady flow of customers but it was not overwhelming. I was able to get on with my WOE. I always feel that weekends feel a little funny when it comes to eating. I usually get up much later than weekdays. Between 3-4 hours. By the time I wake up on a Saturday or Sunday I would have eaten my first meal of the day.

Anyhow tummy troubles are at an all-time low. My energy seem to be returning to normal. My sister is getting married this coming weekend and guess what’s on the menu? BBQ. I think I will stop by Burger King and wolf down a couple of “buck doubles” before I reach the reception.
No more restaurant BBQ for me. I love to backyard grill so I will be making my own for now on.

(ZC)ers Rule

Where do I start??? OK I know, I will start with the dreaded “Melatonin” Jeez I do not remember taking it at all………..side effects from taking it??? Who knows? Hahaha!!! No I don’t endorse taking it at all. I will chalk that up to a Rookie MISTAKE!!!

OK so I put a few response to my previous post from some of the original members of ZIOH Forum. I call them my ZC Family. They always provided me with support and sometimes some Tough Love.

I vowed not to eat anymore restaurant BBQ……….well for the most part I have kept that promise. I do eat it from time to time. I still don’t trust it 100%.

Back then I was drinking the tallow left over from the Fatty Beef Brisket that I would back in the oven. I don’t do that as much today. I don’t see anything wrong with it. It just does not attract me as it once did. Who knows I could always start that again. This Rookie was just trying to do what he thought was right for him and his health. Kudos for him………or me. Hahaha!!!

So this Rookie is planning ahead. He had a bad deal with some commercial BBQ or at least he thought so at the time and was making preparations of what to eat for the upcoming wedding reception. Some may think “what’s the big deal”, well I say “Big Deal Indeed”. Because he was at least trying to plan what was best for him and not just going with the flow. Little things grow the bigger things and sets up good if not GREAT things for the future!

So at this point he is just LISTENING to his body. Yes!!! What a concept. He is eating when he is hungry and resting as his body commands unless some for some unforeseen incidents like his dear wife’s illness.

Have a great Zero Carb day my Family and Friends. Your body knows what’s good for you. Take all the toxins out and fill it with the food it was meant to eat. Live Long, Be Strong and Always Battle On!!!

5/6/2016 - Blast from the Past - DAY 33

Greetings all,

I hope all you Moms out there a very Happy Mother's Day this Sunday!!!

I won't be posting this weekend. My  next post of "Blast from the Past" next Monday..............but for now, I hope you enjoy this edition of "Blast from the Past"!

Original Stardate: 8/2/2010
Before I went to work this morning I put a full fat brisket in the oven on low temperature to slow cook all day. When I got home this evening the whole house smelled like beef paradise. I could not wait to carve a piece out of the fatty side. Wow it was Soooo……….Gooooood. I ate a bit of fat and my (DW) almost fainted. She reminded me that the fat would cause me to have high cholesterol. I told her “No it will not cause high cholesterol as long as I stay on (ZC).” She just shrugged her shoulders in disgust. Oh well, welcome to my world.

On a lighter note I will have the privilege to carve it up as soon as it cools down. I can’t believe I used to throw all that yummy fat away(DUH). (DW) was at home today and made some Chinese Steamed Pork Buns. I would be a big fat liar if I did not say they sure did smell good. I could just make out the smell over the brisket. It must have been the pork inside the buns. Back in the day I used to gobble them down. They were better than any buns you could buy in Houston’s china town.

(ZC) Fatty Brisket vs. Pork Buns

Original Stardate: 8/2/2010
I was able to sleep o.k. last night. I took the melatonin. I did wake up twice before I finally got up for the day, but it was just for a short period of time. I got up about 3 minutes before the alarm. My spirits are good. No cravings for carbs, no cheats and no tummy troubles. I feel a little groggy. I think that BBQ I ate yesterday may have been a little too salty. I also feel a little bloated. I took home some of the left over BBQ yesterday. Needless to say I threw it away in the trash this morning.

I had an employee that has just come back from a one week vacation. He mentioned that I looked a little thinner, especially my face.

I have completed 6 weeks of (ZC). I am still encouraged to continue on this Journey. The weight loss has not been as steady as I would like, but that comes with the territory.

(ZC)ers Getting Jiggy with it

Overall health (1-10):8
Energy level (1-10):8
Cravings: None
Today's Menu: Steak, Ground Chuck, H2O

OK, so you see I had to put up with a lot of grief from my dear with at the start of (ZC). She gave me hell, always I was setting myself up for a hear attack because of the fat I was eating. Fatty Brisket was a staple for me at the start of (ZC). I have grown to eat many other things now. I do enjoy a nice Fatty Brisket now and then. At least I stood up for my rights and did not cave in or back down with my new Lifestyle choice........good if not GREAT for ME!!!

Well at least the Fatty Beef Brisket won over the Pork Buns. Remember folks that this Rookie was still very new to (ZC) and the Pork Buns were oh so tempting.

I know I said I completed one (1) month of (ZC) last post, but I forgot that I started two (2) weeks of (ZC) prior to joining the ZIOH Forum. It was a requirement. So I was (ZC) two weeks prior to my journal.

YIKES!!! I did indeed take the Melatonin......... I really don't remember taking it at all. I did kinda remember buying it, but I thought I threw it away.

I was not afraid to throw away meat that I bought from a restaurant that I thought made me feel a little ill. Never be scared to do that, because at the end of the day we don't really know what kind of seasonings or marinades restaurants put in their foods. Even if you ask them, you have to rely on them telling the truth. Home cooking is the best thing ever for a (ZC)er. Yes it is!!!

Have a wonderful Zero Carb day my Friends and Family. Stay True, Stay Strong and Always Battle On!!!

5/4/2016 - Blast from the Past - DAY 32

Greetings all,

Wow, a full month of my Zero Carb Journey has just past and on to the next one.  As promised your next installment of "Blast from the Past":

Original Stardate: 8/1/2010
The awkward feeling in my abdomen is completely gone. My spirits are pie( oops) in the sky. No cravings for carbs, no cheats. My energy levels are very good.

We had so much fun yesterday we decided to do it again toady. Mainly the nice stroll along the Water Way, Town Center and Market Street. We had early dinner with two other couples at a BBQ restaurant. They sell the meat by the pound and you eat it on butcher paper. We shared brisket, pork ribs and turkey breast. I ate the brisket and ribs. No sauce for me. Not knowing what may have been in the spices or marinade scares me a little. One of my friends is not married and brought his long time girlfriend and she asked “Are you still on that all bacon or meat diet?” I said “No, I am not on a diet. I simply changed the way I eat.” She just laughed a little. I have to admit I did tell her I was on an "all bacon diet" a while back as a joke.

I swear it gets to the point that I don’t trust anything that I don’t cook myself (as far as hidden carbs are concerned). PARANOID!!!!!!

I got a good deal while Hunting at Randall’s grocery store. I Bagged four huge 1 inch thick Rib eyes for 3.99lb. I was able to Bag two nice Lamb Chops in the “mark down” section.

I went ahead and bought some melatonin. I hope this helps with my lack of sleep. I am optimistic that it will work.

I would like to thank all of you that have provided suggestions, explanations and empathy.

(ZC)ing with Non-(ZC)ers

Overall health (1-10):8
Energy level (1-10):8
Cravings: None

Today's Menu: Brisket, Steak, Pork Rib, H2O

Wow, this post reveals a whole lot of things:

  • Melatonin- it looks like I did buy some and apparently used it. I really don't remember that at all. I attribute the memory loss to the.....uh...the melatonin. Hahaha!!!

  • At this point the that weird feeling in the gut is gone....jeez a month late and now it's gone. How long could the average Rookie last under that condition?

  • At this point I became Paranoid and suspicious of hidden carbs in foods at restaurants........well I don't think lasted too long, but heck at least I put the "radar" on full blast and I was looking out for myself.

  • Ahhh "The All Bacon Diet", yes I have to admit I got so tired of trying to explain my new way of eating to everyone that I started to call it "the all bacon diet" to get a reaction out of them. I know........that was bad of me to do or was it???

  • Now this Rookie is starting to "Tell it like it Is", how you may ask. Well he is now calling Zero Carb a "Lifestyle" instead of diet. Good if not GREAT for him........hmm....I mean ME. Awkward!!!!
I did not post some response to "Karen and Catin" of the orginal ZIOH Forum.

Have a wonderful Zero Carb day my Family and Friends. Battles are won daily, yet the War still Rages on. Stay in the Fight and do whats Right. Always Battle On!!!

(ZC)er This is how we Do IT

5/4/2016 - Good Golly Miss Molly.........

Greetings Family and Friends,

What the heck does Miss Molly have to do with Zero Carb anyway???

I dunno it just came to mind when I was typing the title to this post. Go figure.......... Hey the song is pretty upbeat ya have to admit...right???

Life as a (ZC)er is more than I could hope for.......yes it is indeed!

OK, so what's the point? Does there really have to be a point? Can't a fella just be happy about his Lifestyle choice and move on? Well, if you ask me, I say YES and NO. Ah ha, I knew there was a moral to his  statement! Jeez, I get critics all the time!

Look-it: YES: I could just move on and not share anything at all. That would be OK I guess. No: Because that would be selfish in my little point of view. Let's face it y'all we are in waters that have not been treaded for the most part. And if they were, it is not discussed much until recent times. Most folks just think your a nutcase, yes I mean you and me. That is if you practice the ART of ZERO CARB! Ohhh that sound cool or did it? Ha!

I think I need to write a book titled "The Art of the Zero Carb Lifestyle". Then I can be Rich and Famous and ................. OK, someone throw him a Pork Chop so he will settle down.

Hey that's not a nice thing to say.........yet the sound of a grilled Pork Chop is tempting I do have to admit. Yes, a nice grilled Pork Chop and about three (3) or four (4) eggs over easy with all that yellow stuff to dip the meat and maybe a few rashers of crispy BACON!!!

OK, so  I have my head in the clouds dreaming of the oh so yummy Zero Carb foods out there. You non-(ZC)ers are really missing out. Not just on the food, but all the benefits that are bestowed upon you for a lifetime.

Stay tuned for tonight's next installment of "Blast from the Past". I hope you don't mind this rambling post. I am trying to get back in the groove of posting. Daily? I dunno. I just go where the wind takes me.

Have a wonderful Zero Carb day my Family and Friends. Keep the Faith and Always Battle On!!!

5/2/2016 - Blast from the Past - DAY 31

Greetings all,

I am back in action and reporting for duty.  And now another “Blast from the Past”:

Original Stardate: 7/31/2010
Hello Caitlin, I can see a difference in my weight loss most of the time if I can get enough rest. The better I sleep the more weight comes off.

Thanks, it does seem that the stomach problems have finally subsided.

(ZC) Winning Battles, One at a Time

Original Stardate: 7/31/2010
This is turning out to be a good morning for me. I am almost 100% recovered from that strange feeling in my gut. My Spirits are soaring. I wish I would have slept in a little more. No cravings, no cheats thank God.

I think I may have figured out the up and downs and altogether slowdown of my weight loss. Now this is just a Hypothesis. I figure that I have not been getting enough sleep. I have mentioned this in the past. But lately I have had less sleep than usual. I am going to really try again to make an effort to sleep a little more each night (no turkey experiment). I am planning to buy some melatonin this weekend. I'm not much of a pill popper, but I have to do something. I have no idea of the effects on me. I am willing to go that step to see if I increase my sleep and to see if it aids me in my weight loss i.e. the sleep.

I do have one big bad habit of eating too many Jelly Doughnuts late at night…………..NOT (LOL). Truly, I sometimes wait until DW comes home from work around 7:30 pm and wait to eat my last meal for the day with her. Even if I’m hungry before she gets home. I will put an Ax to that practice starting Monday, since she is off the weekend. I don’t like eating late because if makes me feel uncomfortable.

I hope that everyone has a Great (ZC) day.

A nice drop in weight, recovering from some sort of weird feeling in the tummy (gut) area. OK, now this Rookie is putting his noodle……..oops I mean brain to work. How you may ask…..well he has formed a Hypothesis. OK, now stick out your tongue and say hypothesis three times quickly…….. What the hell does that have to do with Zero Carb? Some may be wondering. I dunno it just seemed funny at the time.

OK, back to the subject at hand. What was his hypothesis (remember three times…sorry), well it does not make a difference. Did I just confuse everyone??? The point I am making (yes there is a point) is that this rookie so emerged in his Zero Carb experience that he is actually taking time to rationalize his new lifestyle.

It does make a difference if he was 100% or wrong, but it does make a difference that he is ENGAGED!!!

Personally I happen to agree with the idea of more sleep along with the proper Zero Carb Diet the more someone who is in need of losing weight will indeed lose more weight.

OK, I do mention that I was going to buy some Melatonin. I really don’t remember at this point if I did or not, but we will find out later as I get to that time. I still practice not eating with DW at night unless it is just part of my eating routine for that day, but I really don’t care for late night eating. Oh, just ignore that jelly doughnut deal.

Nice to be back sharing. Have a Healthy day my Family and Friends. Fight the Good Fight and Always Battle On!!!

5/2/2016 - You have Questions, I have Answers.........Maybe?

Greetings Family and Friends,

Questions.....Answers......Maybe.......... What the heck is he talking about anyway. There is always a critic in the house. (Oh blue in this case means someone other than me.) Scary I know, but that is how I roll. Hahaha!!!! That screeching laugh.........again. OK, enough with the criticism! I have feelings too.

Now that I got that out of my system I can move forward with, with, uh..........with.........what in the heck was I posting today about...........hmm......hmm......hmm. Let me see, oh OK I think I've got it or do I???? Why does he always do this? Because I can. That will teach them a lesson or two. Ha!

Look-it: If you have a question, I am more than happy to answer it if it is in my oh so little realm of expertise. If not, I will research it. The majority of the questions I get are through email. Once in awhile one slips and I don't answer it in a timely manner. For that I am sorry.

Today is just another good if not GREAT day living the care free Zero Carb Lifestyle. The beauty of this lifestyle is not having to worry about eating. For some folks this may concern them three (3) or four (4) time a day almost every day. For me it concerns me only twice (2) a day for most days. I really don't have to worry about "what's on the menu", oh let me see........meat? Do you see where I am going with this? Yes, it is as plain as the nose on your face. Meat or meat? Choices are the least of your worries unless you get all caught up in it and make some drama about it.

Drama??? What drama you may ask. OK, the most often question I am asked is: "What do I eat on the Zero Carb Way of Eating" My answer is: "Eat what you like." That little question can confuse a whole lot of folks out there. Of course "Eat what you like" means within the Zero Carb realm of eating. Any kind of meat will do. You can add Fowl and Seafood to boot. Dairy is acceptable with a caveat. Dairy should be as close to Zero Carb as possible. This is where folks get into trouble in my humble opinion. It can be addictive and loaded with carbs. So do yourself a favor and stay away from it for at least a month. Then you might not want to got back to it at all or at least limit your amounts. For me a little cheese every blue moon is a treat or a little shredded cheese on some dishes are OK, but it is not a staple by any means.

Make wise Zero Carb choices and Reap the Rewards of the Zero Carb Lifestyle. For me it was: Weight Loss, No Meds, and an enhance Spiritual Life. Did I mention that I have peaceful, easy feeling..........hey that sounds like a song.

Have a Great Zero Carb day my Family and Friends. Stay tuned for your next installment of "Blast from the Past" tonight. No Surrender, No Retreat and Always Battle On!!!
