5/6/2016 - Blast from the Past - DAY 33

Greetings all,

I hope all you Moms out there a very Happy Mother's Day this Sunday!!!

I won't be posting this weekend. My  next post of "Blast from the Past" next Monday..............but for now, I hope you enjoy this edition of "Blast from the Past"!

Original Stardate: 8/2/2010
Before I went to work this morning I put a full fat brisket in the oven on low temperature to slow cook all day. When I got home this evening the whole house smelled like beef paradise. I could not wait to carve a piece out of the fatty side. Wow it was Soooo……….Gooooood. I ate a bit of fat and my (DW) almost fainted. She reminded me that the fat would cause me to have high cholesterol. I told her “No it will not cause high cholesterol as long as I stay on (ZC).” She just shrugged her shoulders in disgust. Oh well, welcome to my world.

On a lighter note I will have the privilege to carve it up as soon as it cools down. I can’t believe I used to throw all that yummy fat away(DUH). (DW) was at home today and made some Chinese Steamed Pork Buns. I would be a big fat liar if I did not say they sure did smell good. I could just make out the smell over the brisket. It must have been the pork inside the buns. Back in the day I used to gobble them down. They were better than any buns you could buy in Houston’s china town.

I was able to sleep o.k. last night. I took the melatonin. I did wake up twice before I finally got up for the day, but it was just for a short period of time. I got up about 3 minutes before the alarm. My spirits are good. No cravings for carbs, no cheats and no tummy troubles. I feel a little groggy. I think that BBQ I ate yesterday may have been a little too salty. I also feel a little bloated. I took home some of the left over BBQ yesterday. Needless to say I threw it away in the trash this morning.

I had an employee that has just come back from a one week vacation. He mentioned that I looked a little thinner, especially my face. 

I have completed 6 weeks of (ZC). I am still encouraged to continue on this Journey. The weight loss has not been as steady as I would like, but that comes with the territory.

OK, so you see I had to put up with a lot of grief from my dear with at the start of (ZC). She gave me hell, always I was setting myself up for a hear attack because of the fat I was eating. Fatty Brisket was a staple for me at the start of (ZC). I have grown to eat many other things now. I do enjoy a nice Fatty Brisket now and then. At least I stood up for my rights and did not cave in or back down with my new Lifestyle choice........good if not GREAT for ME!!!

Well at least the Fatty Beef Brisket won over the Pork Buns. Remember folks that this Rookie was still very new to (ZC) and the Pork Buns were oh so tempting. 

I know I said I completed one (1) month of (ZC) last post, but I forgot that I started two (2) weeks of (ZC) prior to joining the ZIOH Forum. It was a requirement. So I was (ZC) two weeks prior to my journal. 

YIKES!!! I did indeed take the Melatonin......... I really don't remember taking it at all. I did kinda remember buying it, but I thought I threw it away.

I was not afraid to throw away meat that I bought from a restaurant that I thought made me feel a little ill. Never be scared to do that, because at the end of the day we don't really know what kind of seasonings or marinades restaurants put in their foods. Even if you ask them, you have to rely on them telling the truth. Home cooking is the best thing ever for a (ZC)er. Yes it is!!!

    Just now finding this site. Read the tribute page and a couple of posts. You have 6 years of blogs to read through. Just wondering if you share what your results from start to now have been. And congrats.

  2. Howdy Marc, I am glad to see you here. As a matter of fact today I will be updating the blog with another addition of "Blast from the Past" day 34. I changed the angle of this ZC blog to ZC and not focused just on me. Thus the name change of the blog from “The Chronicles of David” to “Zero Carb Chronicles”. I don't do social media, except on some close and secret ZC FB groups. My FB is closed to all. I use it as a portal to the closed and secret groups.

    The last 6 years have be absolute heaven for me. I have lost and maintained over 100 lbs. gone forever. It is easy. I know folks out there think "Sure it is”, but it is. It takes conviction and a will of steel. If I can do it anyone can do it. Some folks turn to Zero Carb for health reasons, some for weight lost and some for both. I am in the last category. I had high blood pressure, borderline diabetes and suffered from gout. Now I am free from all of those things. My labs are good if not great and I would not change a thing. My thinking is clear and my Spiritual Life is the best it has ever been. Thanks for stopping by Marc.
